Coronatine

General Properties and Industrial Significance:

Coronatine is an innovative Plant Grow Regulator which is naturealy sourced by fermentation. Coronatine is natural toxin produced by certain bacteria, specifically Pseudomonas syringae, which is a plant pathogenic bacterium. Coronatine is a virulence factor, meaning it plays a role in the bacterium's ability to cause disease in plants. It is chemically similar to jasmonic acid, a plant hormone involved in stress responses, but Coronatine´s activity is 100 - 10 000 times higher that of jasmonic acid.

Agricultural Uses:

  1. Coronatine enhances crop stress resistance. Coronatine-treated plants show increased resistance to frost, heat, drought and salinization.
  2. Coronatine treatment reduces the number of empty granins and increases grain weight.
  3.  Coronatine treatment in fruit trees enhances sugar accumulation, promotes uniform coloration, lowers acidity, and improves overall flavor quality of fruits.
  4. Coronatine treatment extends the shelf life of fruits such as citrus and peaches.
